Wanderer, your footsteps are the road, and nothing more; wanderer, there is no road, the road is made by walking. By walking one makes the road, and upon glancing behind one sees the path that never will be trod again. Wanderer, there is no road-- Only wakes upon the sea.

A spade? A shovel? The weird things I now spend my days contemplating...

Yummmmmmmmm!

Prepping for enchilada night! We made a house favorite-- sweet potato and black bean, with homemade tortillas, and homemade enchilada sauce (with a homemade tomato sauce base), can you say delicious?

Risotto: Take 1!

Making some risotto at the boys!

Rode past this bridge on my way to yoga this morning. It's right next to the bike path, so theoretically I've gone past it a zillion times before but noticed it for the first time this morning.

Wednesday

A Toothbrush! Okay, you may see this and actually be thinking "a toothbrush...?" We went grocery shopping last night and I decided to take a picture of the most exciting purchase (and we did do well this week, so there was a bit of competition for this shot). I decided to go with the toothbrush because you can purchase replacement heads for it, which I never even knew existed!

So begins the new year!

This year, well I guess technically last year, for Christmas I decided to "give" my parents a Photo-A-Day blog. I would have started on January 1st, but my camera was in my desk at work (cue today's photo):

Yup, it's a pretty legit desk. Technically it's the Executive Director's desk, but we haven't had one of those in the past year so it's mine. It has a lot of fancy drawers and such, but we don't have file folders anymore (oh the thrills of working at a small nonprofit) so the top is a bit messy. Actually, I take that back. Rather, the desktop is "organized chaos" because I know where everything is.

On the desk you'll find clues to my job:

  • The neighbor contact info that's all over the bulletin board (Working with neighbors and block club groups to do all sorts of things! Clean out an alley? Why yes! Design a site plan for a vacant lot? Why yes!)
  • The Styrofoam house that's supposed to teach kids about alternative energy but that I can't fit together (Coordinating a weekly after school program for elementary school kids)
  • The gardening gloves in the bottom right from a work day a bit ago, but are always handy to have on . . . hand (Pull weeds, plant a garden, stake a tree, the list goes on)
  • Et cetera (My ever changing job)
(I promise to post more interesting photos throughout the year! Today's been a lot of behind the scenes work, so I didn't have many other potential subjects.)
